Kept in a long-distance relationship for two years due to a surprise world event, the National Conciliation and Mediation Board Regional Branch No.1 and the Region 1 Ilocos Conflict Administration and Resolution Ensemble (I-CARE), Inc. convened on 12 April 2022 at the former’s office in San Fernando City, La Union.

“We are so glad to once again meet with our colleagues,” I-CARE President Leonora Quarte said during the meeting.

“After two years and just having to communicate and carry out our activities on the internet, it feels good to sit down like this again,” NCMB Director Brenda Rose C. Odsey said.

The group planned the resumption of a face-to-face seminar to be held at Awesome Hotel in the municipality of San Juan, La Union, known for its magnificent beach and quality vacation hotels. The event will be a one-day affair slated on 27 May 2022.

To be featured in the seminar are speakers from the Department of Labor and Employment Regional Office 1, Employees Compensation Commission (ECC) Regional Unit 1, and Regional Tripartite Wages and Productivity Board (RTWPB) 1. DOLE will present updates on labor issuances pertaining to workplace operations and vaccination. Updates on benefits related to COVID cases in the workplace will be presented by ECC. The RTWPB will discuss the process by which wages are set and the factors taken into consideration in its determination.

The Branch will present a material to address the labor relations aspect of employment targeting on enhancing cooperation and improving industrial peace in the workplace.
